Originally developed for NASA to protect astronauts from temperature fluctuations in space, NASAOutlast® technology utilizes phase-changing material (PCM) that absorb, store, and release heat for optimal thermal comfort. The technology is comparable to ice in a drink: as it changes from solid to liquid, it absorbs heat and cools the drink, keeping it at the desired temperature for longer. Outlast PCM works in the same way but are microencapsulated materials are called Thermolecules and they are exceptional durable for many applications including incorporate into fabrics and fibers that will then have the capacity to absorb, store and release excess heat. This helps continually regulate the skin’s microclimate.
